As you know, kindness is always important to our whole team at Roos Orthodontics. Today is Jackson Roos’ birthday and so we particularly remind ourselves of his entreaty to us all to “Be Kind”. Every year on this day, Roos family and friends head downtown to feed the homeless, in Jackson’s honor.  It’s easy at this time of year to get swamped with holiday frenzy and to-do lists. Instead of being in the moment and enjoying what we have worked so hard to put together, we can find ourselves spending more time complaining about how busy we are! Take time to focus on being present in whatever you are doing.
It is also important at this time of year to acknowledge those who perhaps don’t have large families or layers of plans over the holidays. A random act of kindness could really impact someone’s life – especially if their holiday celebration isn’t going to be a whirlwind of feasting and friendship.
Kindness at Christmas doesn’t need to involve spending large sums of money – “it’s the thought that counts”.
Stop by with something small for a neighbor who you think might be alone…
Volunteer…
Give that homeless guy a food parcel…
Send a letter to a soldier abroad…
Tape change to a vending machine…
Donate gloves and hats to a local shelter – its cold out there!…
Candy Cane “bomb” a parking lot…
Give a friend a “hug” coupon for a time in the future when they might need it…
Feed the birds…
Take cookies to your local fire station…
Pay for the person behind you at Starbucks…
Acknowledge your cashiers and store associates…
Offer to babysit for a friend or family member while they go Christmas shopping…
Call a friend or family member that you haven’t spoken to in a long time…
Shovel the path for your mailman!…
Show your Roos smile to everyone you see today!

More than ever, it’s the time of year for compassion, friendship and neighborliness.

We wish you all a festive holiday season.
